Welcome to CIRDAS

The Centre for Insurance, Risk and Data Analytics Studies (CIRDAS) was created by South East Technological University (SETU) Carlow Lifelong Learning (LLL), Insurtech Network Centre (INC) and our Higher education institute (HEI) partner in Atlantic Technology University Letterkenny (ATU).

We are funded by the Higher education authority (HEA) and our aim is to become the education partner of choice for the insurance/financial services sector providing bespoke, subsidised and accredited education from masterclass through to Level 9 major awards.

Our Expertise - CIRDAS Development & Programme Manager

Eamonn Sweeney is the Development & Programme Manager of CIRDAS, having been appointed to this role in July 2023.

Eamonn’s insurance career commenced in 1985 in Dublin, when he entered the commercial insurance broking sector, working for the largest broking firms of the time.

Over the following thirty-five years he established two insurance brokerages of his own in addition to co-founding a managing general agency. In between these ventures he undertook short term contracts with a variety of companies in the insurance sector.

In 2008, Eamonn commenced lecturing part-time for the Insurance of Ireland (III). This evolved into becoming a lecturer, examiner and presenter of webinars for the III.

Eamonn is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII) and holds a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) among his many qualifications.

Outside of work, Eamonn served as a Garda Reserve at weekends for thirteen years. His more sedate hobbies now include being an enthusiastic book collector, a fearless investor and a loyal supporter of several animal rescue charities.

Our Expertise- Industry Liaison

Nikki Bourke is the Industry Liaison Officer with CIRDAS. Joining the team in January 2023, she brings with her over 20 years of experience working across UK and Irish Library and Information sectors.

Her educational spectrum is diverse and broad. Holding a BA Hons Degree from the University of Wales, a Master of Library & Information Studies from University College Dublin, and a Master of Science with Merit in Digital Education, from the University of Edinburgh.

Nikki has recently completed the Higher Diploma in Arts in Digital Media Design with SETU Lifelong Learning.

Passionate about helping learners enjoy their best educational experience, Nikki believes in embedding strong communication, outward engagement and mindfulness in each and every interaction.
